Slices of the World: How to Life

Emily here with you once again, sharing the contents of my head that may or may not be coherent or interesting!

But I’ve been thinking…

There are people in this world who, quite preposterously, like cream cheese. Some of those people like to tent camp and still others probably enjoy Adam Sandler.

I ban all three of the above from my life and yet…here I am. Very much alive and quite happily so.

(PSA: To all cream cheese lovers out there, it will ruin a perfectly perfect cinnamon roll and that, my friends, is a shame of the most heinous variety. Never waste a cinnamon roll.)

Some people love sunshine and blue skies while others prefer drizzly days and gray skies. I am the latter and my life is abundant.

Other folks like big, fluffy socks while others refuse to wear socks, fluffy or otherwise. Socks or no socks, these two types of people are living quite comfortably.

There are those who love cozy nights at home and their counterparts who seek the thumping club scene. Both parties are happily living their lives.

There are nature lovers, city dwellers, off-the-beaten path explorers, homebodies, those who dream of space and those who dive the oceans. Wherever they are, Life is good and being lived.

Some people shower in the morning. Others at night. Some…once a week.  Like me, there are lava hot shower takers and cold plungers. There are those who wear watches and those who prefer to ignore the time, those who sleep late and those who watch sunrise.  Whenever they get up, whenever they shower and at what temperature, these groups of people are alive and well.

Some people are athletic, and others prefer exercising their minds. There are movie lovers, book lovers, music lovers, and those who relish the silence.  Some people love the smell of gasoline while others prefer campfires and still others who run away in disgust from all such smells.  All are enjoying life just fine.

The point is: there are as many ways to Life as there are people who live it. There is no one way to do it—there are 8 billion plus a few ways to do it.

But actually, there are way more than 8 billion plus a few.

Perhaps one of the greatest things about reading is that every character in every book adds another way to Life.

Turns out, the possibilities of How to Life are quite endless and this is one of the most exciting thoughts out there! Pick up a book, learn about a different way to live. Talk to someone new, experience another perspective. Meet a new character, learn about another slice of the world.
